Mary Kate van den Berg (she/her) is a Film Producer based in Los Angeles. She brings diverse knowledge from her background as a creative producer and line producer for 15 years on independent films, docuseries, commercials, music videos, brand films, fashion editorials, photography projects, and digital series. She founded her production company half/half in 2020. Clients include Vogue, Número, Sony, Uber, NBA, Interscope Records, Sub Pop Records, Hopeless Records, Third Man Records.
Mary Kate’s independently produced films have played in over 30 film festivals worldwide - including SXSW, Fantasia, Beyond Fest, and Berlin Critics’ Week.
Mary Kate is a Senior Producer for Dead Meat Productions - working to develop and produce digital series, podcasts, marketing projects, screenings, live events, activations, interviews, and other media that promote upcoming horror films and celebrate the horror genre. Projects and collaborations include work with studios such as NEON Rated, Universal Pictures, Sony Pictures, Lionsgate.
Mary Kate is the Board CFO / Director for Guava Court, a non-profit creative organization providing digital media and support for independent artists and businesses in marginalized communities. She is a true believer in creative collaboration and is focused on producing projects fairly and ethically for each member involved. She believes that by providing equal and ample opportunities for storytelling, we can make an impact on our communities.
Film - Featured Work
BITS, written and directed by Lilliya Scarlett Reid, had a World Premiere at SXSW (2024 DEADLINE Article) and screened worldwide - winning the Directorial Discovery Award at Flickers' Rhode Island International Film Festival and most recently featured in Berlin Critics’ Week 2025. It stars Betsey Brown, featuring Morgan Krantz and Jon Gries. The film premiered online (2025) as a Vimeo Staff Pick.
WILD CARD, written and directed by Tipper Newton, played in 26 film festivals worldwide, including Fantasia International Film Festival, Fantastic Fest, Palm Springs International Film Festival, and Beyond Fest (2022). The film stars Tipper Newton and Billy Flynn. It premiered online (2023) via Short of The Week.
